Kiwanis Club of Surf City/Santa Cruz:
Founded in 1961 . The club began with just 25 members and has grown to its current membership of 50 . Over the years, the club has held many fundraisers, including crab feeds, western dances, calamari booths and other events. We help out in the community in a variety of ways, including sponsoring youth groups, raising money to benefit children and children support groups, and providing college scholarships. The club has enjoyed a rich history over the years, with its members coming from fields like accounting, civil service, education, management, medicine and many more. Our foundation, formed in 2005, is organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The primary objective and purpose of this corporation shall be to raise funds to be used for local community and youth services. Included are lessening of neighborhood tensions, promotion of human and spiritual values, combating community deterioration, juvenile delinquency and advancement of medical science.
The corporation sponsors fund raising activities such as a crab dinner, silent auctions, raffles, etc. Volunteers will operate these events. Charitable funds generated from these events will be increased by donations from local companies and individuals.
